The Friendly City

Code Enforcement is a service provided by the City to ensure compliance with City Ordinances, the International Property Maintenance Code, the Minimum Maintenance Standards and Land Use Regulations. While providing for the overall health, safety, and welfare of the community, the City's Code Enforcement officers’ focus is to assist all citizens with maintaining a world class quality of life in Bradenton.

Please call 941-932-9485 if you want to report a possible code violation. You can also send an email to either or You do not have to give your name because we accept anonymous complaints. Please keep in mind that any written communication you send to us is a public record and that we have to disclose it to anyone requesting it. It is very helpful to us if you can give us the address of the violation. This makes it a lot easier for us and saves everyone time. We generally do not call you back with an update. Code enforcement is a legal process, so it may take some time before you see results.

Our officers' first priority is to help residents achieve code compliance. We recommend that you contact the code enforcement officer who handles your case if you are unsure what to do or if you have questions. His/her phone number should be listed on the document you have received from Code Enforcement. Please do not ignore any notices our code enforcement officer has sent to you.

A code enforcement officer may issue you a ticket if you do not rectify the code violations. Another option, which is at the discretion of the Code Enforcement Officer, is that the matter be turned over to the Code Enforcement Board. Both options may result in fines for the property owner.

The Code Enforcement Board Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 2:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Please consider serving on our code enforcement board. There may be an opening and you may just be the right person to fill it. Please contact Volker Reiss at 941-932-9402 if you are interested to volunteer on the board.
